Frappe have a very ancient origin which seems to date back to ancient Rome where, during thesaturnalia, frictilia, strips of pasta fried in lard, very similar to modern frappe. Over the course of history, this simple and delicious dessert has undergone many changes, not only in the ingredients or manufacturing process, but also and above all in the name.
In Rome we know, these strips of fried dough, crunchy and delicious, are called Frappe!
How did the idea of making Frappe al Cartoccio come about?
We were inspired by the Neapolitan cuoppo di fritti, a paper cone containing many delicacies, from mixed fried foods to fried fish. It is a type of product that is consumed quickly, perhaps while walking, and has always been combined with traditional frying dishes. Since frappe are also a fried and super crunchy dessert, why not make them in street food format?
And here the Frappe al Cartoccio have come to life in our laboratory!
But we are not satisfied with so little, this dish had to be a real delight, both for the eyes and the palate! So we decided to enrich it with a pour of chocolate, pistachio or honey cream with a dried fruit topping of your choice (hazelnuts, almonds, pistachio...)
We are sure that you cannot resist a such temptation!
