De Santis Santa Croce, the pastry shop in the heart of Rome, a stone's throw fromSan Giovanni and fromManzoni, has represented, for over 100 years, thetemple of taste and good flavours. Our restaurant shows itself today with a new look. New environments, new coverings and a large arched window, from which you can peek at the work of hands white with flour, kneading, baking, churning out and mixing throughout the day, with skilful and tenacious gestures.
The the 'behind the scenes' artisanal workshop is actually visible: it opens like a curtain onto the audience, thanks to the large industrial-style window, behind which the pastry chefs are constantly at work, churning out bread, sweets and scented creams which are transported in still steaming trays.
Theatmosphere is suspended in time, thanks to the wanted furnishing elements with a tastefulvintage, such as the covering in white diamond tiles and black Greek fret from the fifties style, and light touches of modernity that wink at the industrial style.
A long counter on which to taste the prized wood-roasted coffee, pretty display cases rich in delicacies, the glass stands that retain the fragrant aromas of freshly baked cakes, tarts and donuts.
If time allows it and thelunch break is nearby, take a seat in ourdehor, usable 12 months a year, or in theinternal room, sui nostri nuovi tavolini in legno e marmo. Accomodatevi sulle bellissime 1950s beech chairs and enjoy a journey of taste and relaxation.
